Folklife is traditional expressive culture, shared informally among groups of like-minded people that share similar aesthetics and world view.
We encourage all to join with us in celebrating Florida’s rich cultural diversity.
The mission of the Florida Folklore Society is to advance the appreciation, research and study of folklore and folklife, especially Florida folklore and folklife, in all its aspects.
The Florida Folklore Society was incorporated in 1982 by a small group of devoted folklorists in the state. With the help of the Florida Department of State, Florida Folklife Program, the Florida Folklore Society has blossomed into a strong supporter of traditional culture and folklife projects in Florida.
Membership is open to anyone interested in Florida folklore and folklife. Members receive admission to the annual meeting and information about statewide projects and activities. For more information Sign up for our newsletter
